Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for helping in providing a safe, quality and age appropriate large or small group experience for all participants in the Child Care - School Age Program and Vacation Camp. This will be accomplished by providing direction and supervision and by being a positive role model for participants through good work habits, enthusiasm, a good attitude and adherence to personnel policies and safety rules. This is a full time position with benefits, 40 hours per week, working hours between 8am and 5pm.
** Essential Functions:**
- Engages in activities that are consistent with the mission, goals and objectives of the YMCA.
- Is a positive role model for the children through good work habits, enthusiasm and a good attitude.
- Works in compliance and is familiar with the YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Policy.
- Effectively assists children upon arrival to ease the transition to the program.
- Attends School Age meetings and trainings as directed and required through DHHS.
- To assist the Site Leader in preparing curriculum and implementing it in the program setting.
- To interact and engage children and their caregivers on a daily basis.
- To assist the Site Leader in the daily set up and clean up.
- Acknowledges parents and children in a courteous and professional manner.
- Exercises good judgment around areas of responsibility.
- Is an advocate to the Y by promoting our cause. Assists with the annual campaign by increasing awareness about the campaign within the Y community.
- Is available for and provides direction, supervision, and care for participants in both the School Age and Vacation Camp programs.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Meets the association standard for attendance, punctuality and dependability.
- • Wears neat and appropriate YMCA clothing for completion of work duties.
- • Demonstrates good documentation skills-accuracy in facility records and timecard
- • Keeps all work areas neat and orderly.
- • Possess the ability to handle multiple tasks and demands.
- • Demonstrates a high tolerance for frequent interruptions and varied routine.
- • Proven desire to “take charge” of areas of responsibilities.
- • Ability to keep confidences related to program and personnel matters.
- • Ability to work successfully with a variety of people.
- • Exemplify YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- • Possess current CPR and First Aid Certification.
