The University of Maine Farmington is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Elementary Education.
The Division of Elementary, Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education invites applications for a colleague who shares our commitment to, and has diverse experiences in, social studies education (K-8). The successful candidate may also have expertise in one or more of the following areas: diversity education, introduction to theory and practice in elementary education, research methods, educational leadership, or other relevant areas. The position also includes advising students; serving on department, division and university committees; and engaging in professional and scholarly work. This position may include teaching in the undergraduate program and in graduate education. The teaching load is 12 credits per semester or the equivalent.
This position reports to the chair of the division.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in social studies education, elementary education, curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in social studies, or a related field is required for tenure; ABDs at the time of hire will be considered at the instructor level. The position also requires a minimum of two years experience teaching full-time in a classroom as the teacher of record at the K-8 level.
Preferred Qualifications: The following qualifications are highly desirable: experience in teaching a variety of courses in elementary education; experience working with/and or teaching diverse learners; experience in academic advising; familiarity with instructional technology; and experience in teaching undergraduate or graduate education (or discipline-related) courses in traditional, blended, or online formats.
