Position Research & Development Technician Category Lab Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Shift Days Description
Summary:

The R&D Technician is responsible for supporting formula development projects for innovative liquid personal care products. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to successfully work on fast-paced product development projects for a variety of customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with scientific staff to support product development projects.
  • Willing to take instructions from the chemists and perform experiments independently.
  • Support prototype preparation, testing, and reporting.
  • Prepare lab batches of a broad variety of product formats including fatty acid saponification.
  • Ability to perform experiments and validate the formula. Record all observations on the formula sheet and/or notebook.
  • Assemble and label product samples in assorted packaging components.
  • Ensure lab equipment such as glassware, metal instruments, sinks, counters, and scales are clean, glass and instruments are sterilized when necessary.
  • Assist with testing and calibrating lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks.
  • Manage routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Collect, record, and analyze data.
  • Write reviews, reports and summaries and present findings to both technical and cross-functional teams.
  • Support and help implement continuous process improvements.

Position Requirements
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and/or training in relevant disciplines will be considered. Prior experience working in a laboratory environment is a plus. Experience in color matching preferred with an eye for color. Able to work with fragrance raw materials and other chemicals. Proficient in Microsoft Office, experience with Product Vision a plus.
