The Town of Scarborough’s Community Services Department is seeking creative, dedicated, energetic, and responsible individuals to work part-time (15-30 hours) in their all-day hybrid child care program. This program consists of children who are entering kindergarten through 5th grade. Applicants are responsible for assisting students with distance learning on the days they are learning remotely. Work involves the direct supervision of children, as well as organizing and planning activities, cleaning, and working with a team of coworkers. The ideal candidates must have the ability to connect with various age groups K-5th grade. Our staff will stay with the same children each day to the greatest extent possible. Our hours of operation are 7AM-6PM, Monday through Friday. Flexibility and commitment are important.

Duties include: assisting with distance learning; caring for children; observing and monitoring children's activities; ensuring constant safety and security of children under the program's care; organizing and participating in planned age appropriate activities; completing written documentation and forms such as incident reports and time cards in a prompt fashion and participating in all required meetings and trainings.

Position requirements: Must be at least 17 years of age, and have completed their junior year of high school. Must have prior experience working with children. First Aid/CPR or willingness to be trained. Applicants must pass a background check, and DOE fingerprinting. Ability to stay constantly alert, anticipate and prevent problems, deal with situations in a positive manner and provide fair, but firm discipline. Ability to communicate effectively with children and their parents, as well as the Manager, Coordinators, and other child care counselors. Must be able to work a set schedule, be dependable and reliable.
