The Opportunity Alliance is seeking a part-time Call Specialist to join the Contact Center as we support the agency as it tackles some of our community’s most pressing problems. This mission driven work is exciting, fast-paced and meaningful. The Contact Center is a telephone information and referral line that operates 24/7 and serves the entire State of Maine as a referral system for health and human services information.

You will provide information and referral by responding to phone calls that are seeking access to health and human service information. You will assess caller requests and provide accurate referrals to appropriate community agencies. You will also determine eligibility for specific contracted services. You will assess crisis calls and provide triage to the statewide crisis system. You will also respond to similar calls for programs that 2-1-1 Maine contracts with. The Opportunity Alliance provides a fun and supportive work environment with a strong focus on staff development and retention.

This is a part time, 24 hour/week, hourly position, located in South Portland, ME.

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred.
Ability to obtain certification as an Information and Referral Specialist (CIRS) within 3 years.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Strong working knowledge of computers and software programs required.
• Previous experience (in a call center or providing Information & Referral) preferred.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail at all times and an ability to plan and utilize time in an efficient manner required.
• Ability to take initiative required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primarily and essential job responsibility.
• All candidates must pass an extensive criminal background check, child protective services and sex offender check and must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
