Assistant Dockmaster Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under direction, the purpose of the position is to perform sales, administrative and certain supervisory duties involving the planning, coordinating, promoting and managing the daily operations, facilities, and seasonal staff of South Port Marine chandlery and docks operations. Employees in this classification oversee the daily operation of the docks and chandlery facilities and surrounding property; ensure proper collection and accountability of fees for retail sales and services. Position assists overseeing facility and vessel security and docks maintenance activities.
Performs related work as directed.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provides administration and oversight for the operation, maintenance, cleanliness and security of the docks, chandlery building and related property grounds.
· Sells and assigns slip spaces in the marina, to include maintaining records and the collection and disposition of applicable fees and corrective actions for delinquent accounts.
· Supervises personnel engaged in providing for the security, care, and safety of boats, and cleaning of docks and facilities as well as grounds keeping.
· Supervises personnel assigned to area; schedules, assigns work, evaluates performance, disciplines and makes recommendations for hire.
· Provides overall assistance to our customers, potential customers and general public regarding marine information, marina rules and regulations, docking fees, transient docking and safe boating practices.
· Prepares and maintains various records and/or reports concerning marina activities; i.e., revenues, fees collected, maintenance and repair activities, store inventory purchases, transient reservations, contract billing and operations manual.
· Inspects boats, docks, fingers, pilings and adjacent facilities for adherence to safety regulations, and for the purpose of preventing accident or injury to personnel and patrons. Submits deficiencies list to the supervisor.
· Monitors the functions of fuel pumps and main fueling tanks. Reports pump malfunctions to the SPM owner.
· Conducts and oversees operations of the chandlery; ensures accurate accounting and balancing of all monies processed.
· Assists in responding to hazardous materials spills; ensures containment according to established regulations.
· Updates and maintains SPM website.
· Assists with certain marketing related activities including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Etc.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
To be successful you must have:
· Experience with Microsoft Office Software: Word and Excel.
· Customer service experience.
· Supervisory experience.
· The ability to tend to client's needs and the skill to stay professional in a highly recreational environment.
· A strong work ethic and unquestionable integrity.
· A willingness to learn and desire to grow both professionally and personally.
· Ability to work in a team environment but also handle independent projects.
· Self-confidence to work unsupervised.
· Boating experience is a plus.
