The goal of the Facilities Department is to provide a safe, clean, and well-maintainedFacility in a collaborative environment.

The Electrician plays a key role within the Maintenance team by:

· Installing, designing, maintaining, repairing, testing, upgrading and troubleshooting Electrical, Fire Alarm, and Control systems

· Performing required system preventative maintenance

· Maintaining tools and equipment used in Electrical/ maintenance work throughout the campus

· Assembling required documentation for systems governed by code requirements

· Procuring repair parts and expendables cost effectively

· Providing basic repairs and assistance to plumbers, carpenters, painters, HVAC and locksmiths, upgrading and repair projects with approval from the Maintenance Supervisor

· Maintaining all worksites safe and clean, and free of hazards, on a continuous basis

· Ensuring code compliance of all campus electrical systems

· Reporting code issues, safety concern or issues of importance to the attention of immediate supervisor, in a timely manner

· Providing a welcoming atmosphere, being committed and available to resolve service issues and sharing information to ensure excellent service

The Electrician position will also participate in the “on-call” program and will be “on-call” for one week periods and/or weekend periods on a rotating schedule. The position is part of the Facilities Management essential personnel and 24-hour Winter Management/Snow Removal plan.

The is a full-time, forty hours per week position. Work schedule flexibility is required. This position is essential personnel and may be required to work weekends, holidays, and during college administrative closings. This position is part of the college snow removal team and is required to participate in a 24-hour, 7 days a week winter management & snow removal plan.

Success individuals in this role will have the following skills and attributes:

· A current State of Maine master electricians license

· A thorough knowledge of the national electrical code and power distribution systems

· Excellent troubleshooting skills

· Knowledge of equipment control circuits

· Knowledge of fire system operation and maintenance

· Good understanding of institutional building maintenance operations

· Familiarity with applicable building codes, common construction practices and maintenance standards

· A broad familiarity with the following trades: plumbing, HVAC, electricity, rough and finish carpentry, painting and locksmithing

· Excellent customer service skills

· Must work cooperatively and professionally with a wide variety of College personnel as well as outside vendors and contractors

· Valid driver’s license
