Duties and responsibilities:

  • Enthusiastically greet Retail Customers who visit the store and call on the phone and provide exceptional Customer service.
  • Qualify all potential Customers before preparing or initializing a quote. This process involves gathering information regarding job site location, the timeframe of the project, payment type, and other specifics.
  • Acquire plans, material lists, or other information to assist in getting a material take-off and quote to potential clients in a timely manner.
  • Set up a meeting with Contractors and their Clients to allow end-user to decide on which product lines and Vendor options will be best for them.
  • Strive to turn over commodity inventory. Turning over inventory improves cash flow and fluctuates market pricing to keep us competitive with acceptable margins.
  • Suggest add on sales and strive to increase sales on all orders and inquiries. Sell potential Clients on service and the quality of the Team behind you. Profit is earned by upselling and add on sales.
  • Actively monitor open orders, particularly millworks and special orders, and coordinate with the Shipper on delivery of said items.
  • Set aside time each day to follow up on old business while still processing new business and inquiries.
  • Be sure all paperwork is completed in a timely manner and that the price on the order confirmation matches your Purchase Order. Forward all Vendor confirmations to Central Receiving.
  • Work in collaboration with Shipper for assurance that commitments to Customers are achievable. Alert Retail Manager of all highlights and potential problems.
  • Work with Purchasing and Receiving with any stock issues, particularly when a specific order has larger than usual stock needs.
  • The position must realize that they have a support staff whose efforts should be fully utilized and appreciated. Ensure each customer is satisfied with our efforts, products, and prices.
  • Acknowledging that salespeople have individual sales goals, it is imperative that we work as a team to help meet company goals and help team members grow.
  • Manage assigned accounts to maximize profitability while ensuring the Customer is adequately taken care of.
  • Request to have accounts reassigned to another Outside Salesperson or as a House Account if you find your relationship or effectiveness with that individual is strained or compromised. Better to have them reassigned then for NC Hunt to lose them.
  • Keep watch of industry trends to incorporate new product offerings into your repertoire.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management.
