Job Description Summary

The Digital Marketing Content and Communications Specialist advances and enhances communications initiatives undertaken by the Marketing Department by collaborating with University departments and the Online Division to support both a demand generation content strategy that attracts and engages prospective students, alumni and other stakeholders to move through the respective funnel, as well as internal student- and staff-supported communication initiatives. This position has comprehensive oversight of web content with responsibilities for quality control manager, part digital marketing, and web-writing, with a strong understanding of analytics and optimization. We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented person who can write for the web, optimize for search, help keep track of current projects, and ensure consistency and quality. This role supports the Executive Director of Marketing, Director of Online and Extended Learning, and Director of Digital Communications in driving strategic thought leadership and the conception, development, formulation and dissemination of that content across internal teams, vendors, channels, target markets, and personas.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage digital direct response channels, which may in SEO, social, and drip email, leveraging internal data and analytics tools to scale and optimize towards those delivering ROI in line with business goals
• Develop content for and manage drip email campaigns within our CRM system (SLATE), and review analytics for effectiveness and adapt as necessary.
• Oversee SEO, strategize, develop improvements to website content, make back-end website changes and report out. Provide SEO analysis/reporting and tactical recommendations to optimize website based on SEO best practices and drive organic traffic
• Develop, manage and distill data points across channels to create reports and visualizations that track performance and efficiency across channels for campus partners so they understand performance and can make informed decisions.
• Work collaboratively with the department and media buying partner to review and analyze performance of paid digital media, paid social media and SEM.
• Collaborate with marketing staff members on the ideation of content, as well as the composition of articles, briefs, correspondence, and other informational materials that target multiple, diversified external and internal audiences
• Help to identify new areas of opportunity within existing channels, as well as evaluate and test new technologies using market trends, internal data industry best practices to inform decision making
• Supports development, production, and posting of content and communications across social media and website platforms
• Participates in web strategy discussions around user experience, structure and engagement supporting content marketing strategy
• Uses Google Analytics and web reporting tools to monitor, track and analyze trends
• Monitors digital marketing trends across all tactics and channels and apply knowledge to increasing engagement and best practices for University branding
• Maintain, nurture, and successfully grow relationships with external third-party partners
• Staying abreast of new trends and technologies, both in the digital marketing space as well as the broader education industry
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or related degree program.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant marketing and communications experience; preference given for experience in online educational initiatives.
• Experience with at least two writing styles for two production platforms
• Excellent Internet-based research skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially advanced Excel skills: Proficient in spreadsheet manipulation, including lookups, formulas, concatenation, pivot tables, text-to-column, etc.
• Strong data visualization skills using BI, Tableau, R, or Python.
• Proven success in meeting deadlines, and ability to accurately project deliverable dates.
• Demonstrated success in working within a team project environment
• Exceptional professional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated; pursues clarification and feedback; attention to detail; drive to completion.
• Knowledge of Google Analytics to analyze campaign performance against business KPIs and build new audience segments.
• Understanding of digital ad buying systems and reporting especially Google Ads.
