General Description: Direct Support Professionals at Day One's Residential Treatment Program provide care and supervision of residents during their 6-month stay, on a regular basis as scheduled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the physical security of the House, to make sure that doors are locked, files and other clinical or programmatic papers are protected. Must be thoroughly familiar with the fire safety guidelines and other emergency procedures in accordance with agency and residential program requirements.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the residential community and take appropriate steps when the safety or the well-being of the residential community is threatened.
  • Supervise residents when on-duty, to ensure that the rules of the House are followed and the needs of the residents are met.
  • Create and maintain effective relationships with residents by providing active listening and support when required by residents.
  • Document client contact notes related to client discussions, and appropriately record significant observations and information about residents’ actions and behaviors in the Daily Log on a timely basis and read the daily entries of other staff members.
  • Dispense medication and maintain accurate medical records, CRMA only.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

*Staff Supervisory Responsibilities: *N/A – This position does not supervise other staff

*Physical Environment: *Most duties will be performed at the Day One Residential Treatment Center.

*Physical Effort: *Physical effort commensurate with routine office work, with the supervision of residents, with indoor and outdoor recreational activities, and with occasional travel locally. Must be able to negotiate stairs within the house on a regular basis. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Job Type: Part-time, Per Diem

Salary: $14.72 - $15.23 Base rate. Currently this position offers a $3/hour emergency pay rate in addition to the base.

Requirements

Requirements and Skills Needed for Position:

  • Experience working with and relating well to adolescents
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, and listening skills)
  • Good limit-setting and role-modeling skills
  • Sound judgment and ability to maintain boundaries appropriately
  • Two years of relevant work or volunteer experience in human services
  • Knowledge of safety practices and adolescent development
  • Must demonstrate the following qualities: an excellent sense of judgment; responsibility and dependability; personal stability.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and be available to provide transportation of residents in an emergency.
  • Must maintain satisfactory attendance, punctuality and dependability record.
  • Some knowledge of substance abuse and recovery is required.
  • Certified Residential Medication (CRMA) licensure required for full-time staff within six months of hire, and three hours of medical administration training required for part-time and certain designated per diem staff within six months of hire.
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations and to interact cordially with clients and co-workers to accomplish tasks.
