ACCREDITATION COORDINATOR

Picturesque Cumberland County is the State’s most populous county having a population of 289,977. Its largest city is Portland and the county geographically extends from Casco Bay to the Lakes Region. Cumberland County has the second largest body of water in the state, Sebago Lake, which provides numerous recreational opportunities. The County is the economic and industrial center of the state, having a strong corporate presence of major domestic and international companies. The County has over 400 dedicated employees, all focused on providing the best customer service to the County residents. Cumberland County is represented by five elected county commissioners and the county manager runs the daily operations.

JOB *PURPOSE: * This is professional services work to facilitate, and coordinate the operational standards and policies within the Sheriff’s Office. Work includes monitoring performance standards, policy implementation and processes for CALEA compliance within Sheriffs law enforcement division including making recommendations for corrective action as necessary. The person filling the position, is non-sworn, but has the authority to make appropriate assignments and enforce deadlines throughout the agency.

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s Degree (Required), Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred). Minimum 5 years of combination of education, training, and/or experience in writing policies and procedures related to criminal justice to include supervisory experience. Minimum 5 years’ experience in law enforcement or public safety related field preferred. Advanced experience in current Microsoft Office software programs, PowerDMS, as well as any other software programs necessary to perform the job. Knowledge and proper interpretation of CALEA Standards. Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern law enforcement agency operations and administration. Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis. Ability to read and interpret materials concerning the public safety agency, law enforcement agency, and criminal justice processes.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, to include policy development. Ability to work independently and solve problems involving many variables. Ability to plan, organize, train agency employees. Ability to speak informatively to public groups concerning the accreditation process.

Ability to analyze facts and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions and recommendations and the ability to document the same. Ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion. Ability to delegate tasks effectively, accepting responsibility for the outcome. Law enforcement experience desired.

Valid State of Maine Driver’s License.
