Products manufactured at our site include those used in cell culture, genomics, drug discovery (including for COVID-19), bioprocesses, and more. Contribute to the cause by operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the injection molding equipment that makes our manufacturing process possible.
Work Environment:
- Indoor, climate-controlled work environment.
- Various clean rooms require the use of PPE and could include gowns, head and face coverings, safety glasses, hearing protection, booties, and in some cases, a full bunny suit.

Position Purpose:
The Mold Maker sets up and operates a wide range of machining equipment to fabricate complex objects, fixtures, jigs, etc. as needed. The Mold Maker assists in troubleshooting and repairing all molds in the plant.
Position Duties:
- Assist in maintaining all production molds in a state of readiness.
- Work from blueprints, drawings, specifications and sketches, to determine the method and sequence of operations required to accomplish a task.
- Sets up and operates the appropriate equipment. May be required to build tooling component parts specific to a certain mold.
- Complies with the job specifications and may suggest modifications when necessary.
- Must have the capability of working on several jobs simultaneously.
- Assist or train others in their lines of expertise, when appropriate.
- Keeps work areas neat and orderly, observing all Corning safety procedures.
- Some knowledge of programming CNC equipment.
- Polishing techniques to obtain A1 finish.
- Some knowledge of tig, mig, and plasma welding.
- Ability to dismantle tools checking for abnormalities and repairing when required.
- Knowledge of Hot Runner Systems and ability to repair.
- General knowledge of Injection molding principles.

Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a High School diploma or GED
- Completed a Mold Maker apprenticeship or equivalent.
- 10+ years Mold Making experience including building and troubleshooting molds.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience with CNC lathe and milling center
- Hand polishing pins and flat surfaces to A1 finish
- Ram and Wire EDM
- Automatic Surface grinding
- Experience with Microsoft Office
Soft Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in a teamwork environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
