Are you interested in working in the mental health field, CHCS has a current opening for a Peer (Specialist) Navigator on our Maine Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) team.

The Peer Navigator works as a member of a team of professionals who provide outreach, engagement, case management and service coordination services to adults, who are homeless and have a mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder. These individuals are eligible under the Maine Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) Program.

The Peer Navigator position will be responsible for the identification of eligible individuals, assessment of needs, planning, linking to resources, monitoring and evaluation of services and supports needed by homeless individuals.

Requirements

Must have a high school diploma/GED or higher education

Must have personally experienced mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorder.

Must have Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPPS) Certification or be willing to obtain certification within first year of employment.

Prior experience working in a mental health setting is a plus.

Must have the ability to participate in street outreach, engage people who are homeless, perhaps living outdoors, at shelters, or other community locations.
