Mechanic Position
The City of Auburn is seeking to fill a full-time position for a Mechanic. Applicants must have experience in the preventive maintenance and repair of cars, pick-up trucks, heavy duty trucks, and heavy-duty equipment such as loaders and excavators. Duties include inspecting and repairing cars, trucks, and construction equipment; overseeing preventive maintenance tasks with working knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brake systems, gas and diesel motors; and other duties as required. Successful candidate must be extremely dependable, must meet the physical demands of the job, and be able to work in all weather conditions. This Mechanic will be used to supplement snow removal crews. Shift work and overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays are required.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; a good driving record; a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL); and a State Inspection License Class A, D, and T issued by the State of Maine (or able to obtain within the 6-month probationary period); as well as a certification in mechanics; and documented history of experience and training in this field. Starting rate of pay is $18.80 per hour. The City of Auburn provides a competitive fringe benefits package.
