System Director, Acounting

Job Summary: Reporting to the VP, Controller, the System Director of Accounting plans, develops, organizes, directs and controls the operation of the Accounting Department of Central Maine Healthcare (CMHC). Operation of the Accounting Department includes General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. Performs financial duties required to direct the business affairs of CMHC. Coordinates a system level response to financial business issues. Manages the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers to meet GAAP, SOX and taxation requirements, as well as interfaces from multiple computer systems. The System Director is responsible for the on-going development of the General Ledger system, reporting of Retirement Plans and taxation rules. Prepares financial and statistical reports, and contributes to the financial policy decision-making. Oversees accurate and timely reporting of financial information, payroll processing, and accounts payable processing. Oversees the development of procedures to audit data integrity and reports opportunities for improvement to the VP, Controller. Coordinates the year-end audit. Directly manages the supervisors of General Accounting, Payroll, and Accounts Payable.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent), field of study relevant to position or in management-related discipline. Five to six years' experience in specialty area of the department; extensive knowledge of professional discipline. Supervisory experience desirable. Healthcare experienced desirable. CPA desirable.

Language Skills:

  • Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Additional languages preferred.

Skills:

  • Basic computer knowledge.
