The position of FACILITIES TECHNICIAN III is within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit located at Scarborough, Maine. Provides day to day guidance for personnel assigned to shift. Participates in the installation, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings and/or other facilities related systems. Schedules and/or coordinates modifications, estimates, repairs on existing equipment. Works closely with outside contractors, including general contractors, and trades people to provide the best outcome for production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads assigned shift personnel
  • Assists department leadership with selecting and training employees; maintains departmental policies.
  • Works with the Facilities Supervisor to achieve staff results by communicating job expectations.
  • Works to provide a safe and secure work environment for all employees.
  • Works with staff to maintain building interior, exterior and grounds and ensures facility meets current business needs.
  • Assigns, tracks, and ensures proper documentation of work orders and tasks.
  • Assists in packing, moving and reconfiguring the Facility areas.
  • Assists with building expansion and renovation efforts in support of emerging business needs.
  • Escorts and assists, as necessary, outside repair persons in the performance of their contractual obligations.
  • Maintains appropriate records, keeps inventory of spare parts and materials and provides supervisor with the information necessary to secure needed replacement parts or special materials needed to effect proper repairs on all equipment.
  • Performs routine, periodic and special inspections to determine repairs needed or corrective actions taken to prevent breakdowns, unsafe conditions or to comply with Company and/or Agency rules and regulations.
  • Provides guidance to other technicians and personnel within the assigned shift.
  • Works collaboratively with others.
  • Responds to alarm or trouble calls as required.
  • May be required to provide on-call services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Facilities Technician III is responsible for coaching, mentoring and training other Facilities Technicians assigned to his/her shift. The Facilities Technician III must perform all duties in a professional manner to ensure a positive team environment.

Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION:

  • Technical Degree with a focus in Mechanical, HVAC, or Electrical and/or another related technical field and or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years industry experience.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on electro-mechanical repair, rebuild, field service experience.
  • Familiarity with formal preventative maintenance programs.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS) used to control environmental systems.
  • Experience working in a company operating under ISO, FDA, or similar quality systems or regulations

COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate work and determine the scope and work procedures necessary to perform the job.
  • Ability to prioritize problems and projects effectively ensuring that operation, appearance, and upkeep of the facility are maintained at a high standard
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with proven ability to logically troubleshoot problems, recommend short term and long-term solutions
  • Ability to safely and effectively repair and upgrade equipment as needed
