We have an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Technician II within our Abbott Rapid Diagnostics business located at Scarborough, Maine. In this role, you will perform routine repairs and maintenance on facilities equipment, including, but not limited to, work involving the execution of more than one of the typical maintenance trades: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and repair and installation

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Makes routine, periodic and special inspections to determine repairs needed or corrective actions taken to prevent breakdowns, unsafe conditions or to comply with Company and/or Agency rules and regulations.

  • Assists in packing, moving and reconfiguring the Facility areas.

  • Interprets blueprints, equipment manuals, layouts and wiring diagrams.

  • Assists in preparing documentation regarding preventive maintenance.

  • Escorts and assists, as necessary, outside repair persons in the performance of their contractual obligations.

  • Maintains appropriate records, keeps inventory of spare parts and materials and provides supervisor with the information necessary to secure needed replacement parts or special materials needed to effect proper repairs on all equipment.

  • Responds to alarm or trouble calls as required.

  • Provide support and assistance to engineering and other departments with repair and maintenance of production equipment

  • Provides guidance to other technicians and personnel within the Facilities Department.

  • Makes recommendations to management on cost savings initiatives.

Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar field.
  • Hands-on electro-mechanical repair, rebuild, field service experience
  • Familiarity with formal preventative maintenance program
  • Experience working in a company operating under ISO, FDA, or similar quality systems or regulations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical Degree with a focus in Mechanical, HVAC, or Electrical and/or another related technical field.
